Diego Armando Maradona was born in Lanús, Buenos Aires, on October 30th, 1960, and at the age of nine, his talent with the ball already made him the most popular child in the community where he lived. He began his professional career at the Asociación Atlética Argentinos Juniors team, a small club in the capital. Maradona had a complete repertoire of skills, precise with his magical left leg, with passes, short dribbles, precise shots from short and long distances, free kicks, and corner kicks. His first call-up to the Argentine National Team was at the age of seventeen, where he was controversially cut from the 1978 World Cup. In a friendly against his former team, Argentinos, Maradona made his debut on Boca Juniors. Maradona had a stormy time at Barcelona and then accepted an offer from the traditional, but small Napoli team in Italy. Loved and revered as a king in Napoli, he established himself as the team's hero. His greatest moment came with the conquest of the 1986 World Cup, with him being already acclaimed all over the planet. Considered by many as the greatest player of all time, with a career full of controversies, Diego Maradona is undoubtedly an immortal legend in the history of sports, a human being with virtues and flaws, but nothing can overshadow the brilliance of his playing career, and the magic of seeing him on the field doing what he did best, scoring many goals!
